While the impact of influenza varies, it places a substantial
burden on the health of people in the United
States each year. The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention estimates that influenza has resulted in
between 9.3 million and 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 and
810,000 hospitalizations, as well as between 12,000 and 61,000
deaths annually since 2010. There is a need for better treatments
for patients with influenza infection, preventative measures, and
better mitigation for the impact associated with a pandemic. In
this podcast, expert clinicians will discuss the latest updates on
the treatment of influenza.
